Sillimanite is typically occurring along with the titanium bearing and deposit minerals though its rightfully part of alumina rich minerals group with excellent heat resisting properties.
Of the same family are also Kyanite (USA) and Andalusite (Australia). All three of the aforementioned have an average melting point within the range of 1300-1700 °C , yet Sillimanite reaches the highest end and has a slower decaying upon reaching the limit while Kyanite andAndalusite have a lower limit and quicker, sudden collapse.
Its therefore obvious why Sillimanite is one of the preferred medias (apart Zircon) for foundry and refractories.
IGM distributes the RSIL brand with high sillimanite concentration ad elevata over 97% and with a thin dispersion chart (over 90% within 125 – 350 micron range) easing mixing and uniformity.
